Hi again everybody!

Well I'm back - apologies for the long absence. Been chasing up any work going - times are tough if you work in construction (yep that's me) not to mention oil production (me again, double hit). I'm down 30% this year x23 and as for what shares I've got - exactly, what shares? - not to mention the disappearing pension. Reckon I'm now worth almost exactly half what I was last time I made an entry here. Still, gives me a chance to use a new smilie - ever felt this is what life was doing to you q128
OK, gripes over. At least so far the Crunch only refers to the economy; the XR's still going strong. Been to a couple of rallies so far this year, got another coming up this weekend (Peak Riders) in Derbyshire. There's a thunderstorm outside my window at the moment, hope the weather picks up again for the weekend! Sorry I haven't made it out of the UK this year; that goes back to the economy again. Even when you've got the bike it still costs you - Harley magazine ("Stuff it, we can always ride our bikes...") seem to forget the damn things don't run on air alone! So I'm just attending bits and pieces reasonably locally - but I'm not missing Thunder In The Glens up in Scotland! What's sadder is that I've had to put the plans for the bike on hold. I'm still desperate to get rid of those soddin' cans on the back, but I just can't justify a grand-and-a-half for a full Termiglioni set-up ( x23 again). Maybe when things pick up...
Anyway, despite the doom and gloom, glad to be back people - promise I'll be in touch more often now - as long as I can afford my broadband!!

Ride safe,
Ian

Hello Ian,

Nice to read something about you, however the content makes me a little depressed (especially when I take a look at the stock exchange too). This year I already went to London, as the rates of Ryan air are still affordable. Later this year - I have to warn you - I will be back: in the beginning of September I rented a cottage near Canterburry. Hope that the storms are over by then (ha ha). I am already looking forward to this - four days long - trip with four friends and their bikes.

Last week the temperatures over here were rather high (30 C). Many Swedish sauna builders came over to examine the way the temperature went up at the office where I have to work.... A few thunderstorms later things are back to normal. Last weekend I went to the Eiffel (nature area) in Germany. Beautiful spots and nice hills.

Hope to hear more about you!
Regards,
Richard

To All You Folks,

Hey thanks people - cheered me up lots! Though to tell you the truth I'm all for keeping smiling anyway - what else can we do? q19 While there's life (and beer) there's hope...

Had a great time at the Peak Riders rally, which was really a bunch of friends in a field miles from anywhere. Small get-together but good fun. Average age 58 though, yes really! And mine was the only Sportster q3 In fact, the old geezer doing the check-in at the tent was surprised my bike was new(-ish); seeing the red sports-style tank he figured it was a vintage Harley machine, Stortz racer style. He wasn't the only one there who hadn't actually heard of the XR!?!

Sorry got to keep this short, will put on a photo of a couple of minor purchases I've made this year next time, all being well,

Ride safe,
Ian

P.S. Nice to hear about Canterbury, Big R! Got to admit, I like to think I've been round most corners of the UK, but it's a place I've never been to stay, only passed though. The weather here's no better though!

P.P.S. Got one more major rally booked this year, the 'Thunder In The Glens', Aviemore, Scotland. Thoroughly recommend it if any of you people want to go to a great meeting in the UK. I went for the first time last year, and don't intend to miss it in any year to come as long as I can put petrol in the tank...

Yeah, I like England, Wales and Scotland a lot and I visited them already a few times. My honeymoon was in Scotland and we had a beautiful tour. It was in september 2000 and in that period there was a strike at the petrol stations. The shops were empty and of course the petrol stations as well. That's the first time we stayed in pubs and inns and everywhere I liked it a lot. This time we rented a cottage neare one, so we can crawl back home (ha ha).

Kind Regards,
Richard
