 Berichtonderwerp: Back In The UK!

Hi Folks,
Sorry I've been away for a while. In fact, I've literally been away, out of the country; the company I work for has expanded into Ireland and we've opened four branches in Dublin. I've been hopping on and off 'planes flying in and out of Leeds/Bradford airport and living out of suitcases for the last few months while I get their software sorted out. Haven't got much Sportster riding done :( Still, Ireland (and Dublin in particular) has it's compensations - Temple Bar, for example, in the heart of the city - where you can drink the finest Guinness in the world.
Anyway, back in the UK again, and we have at last got some decent weather now Autumn's arrived. I'll be taking the Sportster out for a run tomorrow (Sunday), maybe out to the coast. I promise I'll follow up this topic with a picture of the latest 'additions' to the bike. The one I really want to mention is the new screen I've got. I already had the Anniversary screen fitted but I was never really happy with it for distance riding. It was just the wrong height; when I was sitting most comfortably, my eyeline was exactly at the top of the screen. To see clearly I had to either stretch a little upwards or crouch a little downwards - not comfortable either way. Now I've got the smoked 'low-profile' screen, which still takes the windblast off your body but is easy to see over. Thoroughly recommended.
Having said all of that, I'm warming to the XR1200 after all. The American magazines are talking about 85-90 bhp in standard trim! And the bike obviously handles well too. Looks like just as I've got my XL Custom sorted to my satisfaction, I might be seriously thinking about changing it! I shall wait and see the bike arrive in the dealers and make up my mind then.
Will post a couple of pictures in the next few days,
Ride safe,
Ian

P.S. I've also been watching Harley's website about the XR, and they've posted the price in the UK - 7,655 GBP. I didn't reckon that was too bad; we (and you folks too) are lucky with the dollar exchange rate at the moment :D [/img]
