Morning everyone,

Just a quick entry this time - HARLEY BUYS MV AGUSTA

I know the rumours a while ago were about Harley buying Ducati, but MV? Wonder what we'll see from what was once the dominant force in European racing bikes. Odd time for an acquisition, but Harley can't have bought them up for no reason... Maybe a range of supersports Harley/MV's???

Yeah, if I remember rightly (and I do, because I've just checked out an internet site called 'Aermacchi World'), Harley had the rights to build a string of lightweights bearing the Harley brandname but built by Aermacchi in Italy. One of them (1971 only) was a 175cc 2-stroke called the - wait for it - AMF Harley-Davidson Shortster
Guess we might be seeing something like them again in one form or another, as MV (so now Harley) own the Cagiva brand...

I'm guessing that they will try to get a bigger cut of the European sportsbike market... With the new Buell 1125cc and the aquisition of MV they certainly have a great base to build on... Watch out Japan in a while you won't be selling any bikes anymore in Europe...
